I first met Susan in fourth grade at Main Street School and have many fond memories of her thoughtout our years at Shelbyville.  In the last few years I have had several "conversations" with her over Private Messenger and was impressed by what I learned.  I learned her father was a brave World War II veteran and law enforcement officer.  I learned about her passion for the American Indians.  I learned that she was an excellent writer.  I learned that Susan fought Myasthenia Gravis for most of her adult life, although she recently said that her first symptoms appeared when she was 17 years old.  After her husband died, her last many years were spent living alone in the backwoods of the Ozark Mountains that she loved.  She faced great physical challenges which she shared with me, yet she never complained to me about them.  I do wonder if I could have faced the same with the powerful spirit that she had.  Susan was a warrior in many ways, and she will be missed.  Rest well my friend.
